Masdevallia Maui Gold
These wonderful little orchids produce small but striking flowers in a characteristic
triangle shape.
This hybrid is a cross between Masd Copper Angel and Masd rex. The flowers are yellow to
yellow-orange, and they are just utterly charming.
We have a bunch of these we'll pick out a nice big one for
you. Shipping is $8.50 They are in 3 inch pots and have 8 to 10 leaves.
They should bloom again at almost any time, and likely within 6 or 8 months.
These fast-growing, compact plants
are perfect for windowsill growers and those with limited space. And the great thing is that they produce blooms several times
a year.
Multiple spikes are common in mature plants. Keep this plant cool and moist and grow in bright indirect
light. Use a humidity tray if your home is exceptionally dry. Keep them indoors in the air conditioning over the hot summer.
Mazzies are native to the cloud forests of the Andes. The flowers can be as much
as 4 inches high, and mature plants can have literally dozens of flowers on multiple spikes. The flowers will have those long thin segments (caudae) extending from the ends of the
sepals that are typical of masdevallias.
