5 small Never-Rot Ceramic Mounts
These clay mounts were designed and made by hand specifically to help you grow
spectacular mounted orchids and other plants.
The offering here
is for five small mounts.
Ceramic mounts have a number of advantages over cork, tree fern, grapewood
and even cypress.
We think they are the ideal media for mounting orchids and other epiphytes, for a number of reasons.
They do not rot the way other mounting material does.
They don’t provide a home for various insect
pests the way other material does.
They seem to have fewer problems with salt build-up than other materials.
They are reusable.
And because they absorb water and allow it to slowly evaporate, they help to
keep roots cooler in a warm greenhouse. Each of the small mounts is roughly 4 inches high by 3 inches
wide -- ideal for small orchids and plants like staghorn ferns. We mount by running copper wire through the mounting holes
to form a hanger. Then we use sphagnum moss around the roots of the plant and attach to the mount using strips of old panty
hose.
We have been selling out of these mounts at orchid shows. We think the irregular shapes add to the natural
look and beauty of a mounted plant.
